For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…” Romans 1:16A ESV
In the beginning God created all things, and it was good Genesis 1. God made man in His own image, male and female, and established a special relationship with man Genesis 2. Man violated God’s commandment, breaking his relationship with God, and earning a curse of death Genesis 3. Since then, every human being is born a natural violator of God’s good and perfect law; that is a sinner Isaiah 53:6, Psalm 51:5, 58:3, Mark 7:21-23, John 3:6, Romans 5:12,19.
As such we are by nature enslaved to sin John 8:34, Romans 8:7, Titus 3:3. We earn the penalty death Romans 6:23, James 1:15. This is an eternal death in which we suffer the full punishment of our sins John 3:36,15:6, Romans 2:8, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, Revelation 20:15. And there is nothing we can do to free ourselves Jeremiah 13:23, Matthew 7:18, John 3:20. All our attempts at doing good fall short Isaiah 64:6, Proverbs 15:8-9, Romans 8:7-8. We are lost and fallen in our sin Romans 3:23. This is very bad news.
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV see also Romans 5:8
The gospel is the Good News of the work of the Holy Triune God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to pay the penalty for sin, reconcile men to God, and rescue them from the curse of sin John 3:16, 6:37-40. The gospel is not about what men do, it is about what God has done, Romans 9:16.
God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect, sinless life. He was crucified in our place, taking our sin on Himself. He then was buried and defeated death, rising from the grave three days later Isaiah 53, John 1:1-18, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Philippians 2:6-9, 1 John 4:10, 1 Peter 1:3, 2:24. So that now by grace through faith in Christ salvation is possible, Ephesians 2:8-10, 1 Timothy 1:15-16.
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Matthew 7:13-14 ESV
The good news of salvation requires a response from each person who hears Romans 10:8-10. The right response has two parts.
REPENT Matthew 4:17– recognize that you are not perfect. Confess your sin. Admit that you can never meet God’s perfect standard. Surrender to Christ and seek Him. Understand this is total surrender in every area of life to the will of Christ, Luke 14:25-33.
BELIEVE – Believe and accept that Jesus died for you. He took all the punishment of your sin upon Himself and paid the debt Matthew 11:28-30. Trust Him to lead you in all of life Psalm 23, John 10:27-29. You must walk in this faith throughout all of life Romans 1:17.
If you would receive salvation, humbly seek God in prayer, repenting, and believing. You do not need a specific set of words, only a sincere heart. Remember this is not a single event, or a one-time agreement, it is a lifelong commitment John 15:5. In that commitment Jesus would give you, “life more abundant and free,” John 10:10. Therefore, we urge you to seek Christ in good hope.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8 ESV
This is the gospel of Jesus Christ, there is no other John 14:6, Acts 4:12. We are happy to answer any questions about this good news, and to pray with you. If you have accepted God’s amazing Grace your walk in a new life has just begun! As you abide in Christ, He will abide in you John 15:5, to continue to good work which has begun and bring it to completion at the proper time, Philippians 1:6. Through our ministries of preaching, teaching, prayer, and fellowship we would be honored to come alongside you to help you, Hebrews 10:24-25.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
